Arts Change Theatre

·

In July 2026, ARTS-CHANGE premiered its theatrical production, consisting of three performances that shed light on experiences of discrimination and gender-based violence.

Sisa Pacari recounts how, as a woman, an older sister, and an Indigenous person, heteropatriarchal stereotypes imposed domestic responsibilities on her that hindered her academic aspirations, and how she managed to overcome these limitations.

Nua, a transgender woman, highlights the distinction between transgender and gay identities within the LGBTQI+ community. She explores key historical milestones in the transgender community and addresses the violence and constant questioning that transgender people face.

Cristina recounts her journey toward reporting the abuse, driven not by fear but by the exhaustion of carrying the burden of the violence she experienced alone. She emphasizes the urgent need for a swift institutional response, as silence and cover-ups perpetuate violence.

Through these three stories, ARTS-CHANGE reaffirms the power of art as a tool for speaking out against violence and driving social transformation.
